Linux Mint, need information

Cinnamon and MATE. What are their differences? And are they compatible with UEFI and GPT?

Looking for dual boot with Windows 8/10 and I don't know if that is possible. Also I might end up transferring the installation on an SDHC card or install straight on the card.

Huh? Those are GUIs (desktop environment), nothing to do with GPT partitions and UEFI BIOS.
As for their specific differences, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfNHnmX3GNY
Suffice to say, some people like Mate, and others like cinnamon.

Sure it is possible.
Install windows first, then linux.

Thanks for the answer. Sorry I was not clear enough, but you answered my question on the second part (which was if they could be installed with Windows on a UEFI system). And the link will clarify my first question though I am leaning towards Cinnamon.

Edit.
Another question came to my mind while watching the video on youtube.
Is it possible to install both desktops? I was a Debian 6 user for almost two years and you could install as many as you liked with Debian. I had Gnome, KDE and XFCE on the same installation at the time. Only needed to log off and choose the other desktop environment.

Yes, that's typical of every distro. What it ships with is the maintainer's "vision", but you can change, or add to it as you see fit.

Linux Mint is a (compatible) derivative of Ubuntu, while Ubuntu is a (mostly package incompatible) derivative of Debian. There is also a Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE). Anything that you can do on Debian, should work on it's derivatives, but some packages may be different or unique to certain derivatives.

Thanks, I already know that and I am going for Betsy. Having the world of Debian packages at your fingertips means a lot to me.
