Can anyone help me get LM installed on my comp? I downloaded the iso's, burned them, and started with the cd-rom boot method. I starts but then I get the message "Kernel panic: Attempted to kill the idle task!" followed by "In swapper task - not syncing". Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,

Sounds like a bad CD. Can you verify the md5sum of your download (provided you kept the original file)? That would let you know if your burn was bad or the file.

I don't have the necessary links in front of me, but there is an md5 calculator for Windows/DOS.

Thanks SUO
I got the file md5sums, now (pardon my stupidity hehe) what do I do with it? I have the iso's still, how do I use the md5sums to check the iso's? (drag and drop?)
Thanks again.

Thanks for the assist. I'm essentially home for the holiday, so I am away from my lovely high-speed cable connection and my software "depot" at work. 🙂 Ahh, the joys of getting away from it all.

BTW, did you know that Google is maintained in Linux? Hmmmm. I want to say a Beowulf cluster, but I don't know for sure.
