Slightly off-topic, but it doesn't deserve it's own thread.
Asus is releasing a new laptop called Eee. It's the commercial version of the 'Intel Classmate' which is designed to be a direct competitor to the XO laptop (aka OLPC laptop, aka 'The One Hundred Dollar Laptop')
It's low-budget, small formfactor laptop. Presumably it's going to use a Intel ULV proccessor and video chipset, which should provide decent proccessor performance and some limited 3d performance.
512megs of ram.
Various harddrives from 4gig to 16gig. They are solid-state flash drives, no moving parts.
802.11g wireless.
Dual USB ports.
VGA out
Full-sized-ish laptop-style keyboard. Touchpad.
The odd thing about it is the tiny 7 inch widescreen display. Rather large bezel.
But the price and size is what makes it interesting. Round about 9 inches wide and 6 inches deep. Thickness ranges from 2/3rds of a inch to about 1.5. Just under 2 pounds.
Then the price for the base model is going to be around 200-250 dollars.
It'll run some custom Linux thing by default, most of the time. But it's XP compatable for the Windows crowd.
