Ok, im installing Slackware 8.0 beta off the ftp site. I also tried 7.1 and it does the same thing. I boot from the CD and it goes till it detects the Cdrom. Then it goes. Uniform Cd-Rom Driver Revision 3.11 and hangs right after that. Nothing goes past it. can't press num lock or anything. Only thing i can do is reboot.

Can someone help me! =)..

The faster the better..i need linux installed. And i dont want to go dl another distro cuz Slack is my fav! =).

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this will help, but here goes anyways. I had a problem with this old comp that didn't boot off of CD. I tried to install mandrake on it with a mandrake boot floppy, but then it wouldn't recongnize the cdrom. I eventually booted off of a win98 disk and found the boot file and executed it. "Bad command or file name" and then it would just boot into the mandrake setup.. maybe you can try that?

Is there anyway you can do an ftp install? Try removing the cdrom drive totally. Either setup ftp on another machine or just download from the slackware ftp. I had a similar problem with FreeBSD and that was the solution.
