One good thing about the newsgroups though is that they reach a very broad audience (bigger than here), and using Dejanews (or Google Groups now

) you can search through years worth of messages for an answer.
Another thing is to go to a distro's homepage (Slackware for example) and see if they have forums. Those are completely Linux dedicated so you generally get more info that way (though it's naturally slanted towards the distro whose site is hosting the forums).

Finally, don't be afraid to post here. As said before there's a lot of Linux users on Anandtech that are usually more than happy to help you get your Linux system in tip-top shape.
