We're learning a bit of Linux/Apache at school and I wanted to install Redhat 7.0 here at my place. The PC I plan to install Linux on , is currently running Win2k Server and is booting off the Highpoint366 IDE controller on the motherboard (Abit BE-6 ll).

I was just wondering if there is anyway to install Linux on a HD booting on the Highpoint ctrller ? Since I really don't have many IDE devices it won't be a prob for me to switch the HDD to the primary IDE , I was just hoping I could install Linux as is . Anyone help me out ?

You can do it, but it isn't always easy. Mandrake seemed to have the simplest setup to use with a drive on the HPT366 when I had one. I could get any other Linux to work too but I always had to put lilo on a drive on the mobo controller (everything else could be anywhere though).
