Alright, first off, what Flavor of Linux do I want? Something easy enough that I'm not going to screw everything up. Then, how do I install? I'm planning on booting Win98SE, Linux, and WinXP. I'll need help setting that up too. Is there a website to Linux commands? Its CLI right? Anything else I need to know? Thanks

Try Mandrake for starters, just to get the hang of Linux. Redhat & Mandrake are about the easiest of all the Linux distros, but I can't say that it's as easy as Windows. They are Command Line, but RedHat & Mandrake will try to avoid that after installation. So time or another you will have to use it though.

No offense dude but if you don't screw things up in Linux and learn from your mistakes then that means you aren't going to learn anything at all about Linux.

I agree with NorthernLove!!! I was reading a french review of linux distros for newbies. First off, you can get the Debian as I know its the easiest and for learniner and regulars alike. I use RedHat because of popularity and better optimization.

You can refer to books from yoru local barnes and nobles to get you upto a very good level. I woudl recommen dthat unless you like to stare at teh screen for hours reading stuff (i dont).

For your setup, someone asked the same question in another forum and I recommended reading the icrontic.com articles as they have a very very very good article on it. I used Partition magic after installing win2k to make the 2 partitions for linux.

Enjoy and happy hunting!

Actually, I recommend Gentoo Linux for beginers, While it takes longer to setup, you learn a TON of linux in the process, and the best fo all, is it is BLAZING fast. By far the best distro I have ever used. It makes me want to go Window-less on my comp...

I'd always heard Mandrake was best for n00bs because it had the easiest to use configuration tools, but it's not as powerful as other distros. For setting up the dual boots I believe the installer configures that for you automatically.
