Did you wake up this morning and say "I wish someone would figure out a way to let me do less with my computer"? You've come to the right place!

It's a simple and convient tarball that once installed will go out and check inuxgenuineadvantage's authentication servers to see if your allowed to login. This is a real program, folks.

If it detects that your not running a genuine verison of Linux, or some other problem happens, then it will give you a 30 day grace period before your machine will start locking you out. Frankly this is very reasonable and is more then you realy deserve. You should be happy your not arrested on the spot.

If you have gotten Linux from a unreputable dealer you can turn them in and I will mail you free genuine Linux installation media for only 45 dollars (shipping, handling, and cost of media. No cash, check, credit, paypall, or COD allowed, thankyou).

Unfortunately some evil fellow has manaaged to crack the code. DMCA takedown notices are being sent to his ISP as we speak (or "as you read" if you want to be anal about it).

Q: Is this for real?
A: It's for real in the sense that the code actually makes your computer less useful. Although there is an actual license server, it doesn't do anything except return "FAIL", making any computers running Linux Genuine Advantage disable logins after the grace period expires. Incidentally, this is similar to what has happened with some other systems (such as Circuit City's DIVX system after they decided it was no longer profitable.

But yeah, basically it's a parody of some other systems that are actually out there. It's a joke. For God's sakes, don't install it on a computer you actually care about.

:Q

This could be really fun:evil:

Yep. It's apparent that the majority of people are using downloaded versions of Linux rather then paying for them like some more upstanding people

It's just people trying to protect their 'IP', don'tjaknow?

btw.. on a completely side note, it looks like people have been paying Microsoft under the table for the ability to use Linux for some time now..
don't bother reading, download the podcast
