Hola, i have a few "how to" questions and was hoping maby someone could tell me how to set up a local file server (not FTP) on linux and suggest a good remote desktop type package to use. I am using Red Hat 8 (maby 9 if i get around to burning the ISO's). I have a good working knowledge of linux and networking but really am at a loss as to how to approch this. I have 3 other boxes on the same network all running winXP and would like to be able to use the linux machine as a place to store everything else. Also i have ditched the monitor with it and am admining it mainly through SSH, but would like to be able to use the GUI (the problem is the only other computer in the same room with it is a laptop, and theres not really room for a monitor) is Samba the program used to make an NT accessable file server? Is VNC a remote desktop program that i could use? Please be as specific as possible and i appreciate your input.
