Linux distro w/ 64Mb

HI, I am looking for a Linux distro that is about 64MB so that I can fit on the Memory stick and to boot up.

I hope it is a live version w/ only KDE interface, mozillafirebird, and gyach....thatz all the package I want.

Is it possible to make one of this distro?

Thanks

Eh, first off you'll never fit KDE, etc. on a 64MB memory stick.

Lower your standards a bit and you may be able to find something suitable.

This looks interesting.

Tiny Linux.

You can forget about Mozilla, KDE, or any other big program though.
They will fit by themselves, but they depend on libs and such that will use far more than 60 MB.

Use *box/icewm as the window manager. Maybe even XFCE.
Mozilla firebird might work. Try to use it sparingly. Use dillo if you are just browsing.

Sunner, thnx for the link to tiny linux. I had tried to use it a long time ago. All I remembered abt the distro was the little mouse on its website. And I remember my 2 yr old neice was so excited to see the mouse!

Edit: okay.. maybe its not exactly a mouse...

Older KDE/Gnome package is possible under 64 Megs of ram, but the newer ones will require at least 128 Megs. However, there are other windows managers that you can try, such as IceWM, Sawfish, Blackbox, Fluxbox & Enlightenment. You can also built your own LFS, or try Tiny Linux, or down load the 50 Megs live CD Damn Small Linux (require a minimum of 100 mhz box with 24 Megs of ram & use Fluxbox) that you can run direct from CD or install it on your hdd.

I think the damn Small Linux fits best....
Maybe I will try it....

Will the computer boot from the USB drive?

Humm...BTW, I am using the school computer to try the live Damn Small Linux, so i dont think i will be enable to change the BIOS to allow the computer to boot from the USB drive.....damn

The site I linked has a download for an already-modified-to-boot-from-usb Damn Small Linux image (52MB).

I'm tempted to pick up a $50 128MB usb memory stick myself and give it a go. 🙂

I just try to remind you that, ther is a SanDisk Memory stick 128 on sale in stape this week.

It is 35 dollars and have 10 dollars rebate. So you actually can get a 128MB for only about 25 dollars
