Linux Distro for a File Server

I want to turn a P3-733Mhz desktop into a file server with Linux. So what would be a good Distro of Linux to use for this? Keep in mind that I'm new to the Linux OS. I want to be able to access the files on my WinXP computers.
 
My favorite Linux Distro for file serving is the Search distro.

All linux distros are the same. iptables on debian is the same as iptables on slackware. kernel 2.6.10 is the same on fedora as it is on mandrake (assuming you don't get the distro-specifically built ones). The only real difference between them all is how you install things. Once your server is set up gentoo will look exactly like SuSE.
 
I'm a Linux poser, and I like to use Fedora. Why? Because it is the only distribution that I was able to use to successfully get samba running and working with my Windows machines.
I tried Ubuntu, VectorLinux, and Mandrake, and Samba just wasn't as easy on them.
 
Debian "Woody" Testing. Or Slackware. You will at least have a chance of learning how it works. SuSE and Fedora are pretty to look at but they install a million components by default.

FreeBSD might be a better option, actually.

If you don't want to download the whole DVD or multiple CD's you can download a small CD ISO file that will let you do and FTP install.
