linux dial up help

not real sure where to put this.

im new at linux. im trying to work with mandrake 8.1. ive got to the point where im going to connect to my isp and get as far as logging on to network and then get disconnected. the file pap-secrets seems to be ok (user name, ppp, user password)

it acts like a wrong password but im sure its ok.

this modem at one tine connected to the internet in mandrake when i tried to open a help file not seeing it was a link. it opened netscape and connected. it worked for a couple of day until i tried to connect without a phone line to the modem and then could never boot again. the next install ive never been able to get a connection.

any help?

If you use KDE try kppp. Its easy.

ok its fixed. had to use my windows machine to get dns 208.xx.xxx.x from winipcfg. used it where it said to use a name.
