I would like to build a new computer. I have built several computers before... but it has been a few years. This will be a Linux build.

I would like to spend under $1000 but $500 would be great if that was doable. I have not priced computers for a long time so I am not sure what I get for the money.

I am in the US and have used NewEgg before to buy parts.

I usually prefer Intel but AMD would be fine if it had more bang for the buck.

I am just keeping my dual monitors 1080 and keyboard. I dont want to overclock. Just assume it is a new build with all new parts. I will probably want to plug in my 2
hard drives to keep some of the data. I am not opposed to transferring all the data to a larger disk drive. Operating system speed is more important to me than accessing files on my old hard drives.

Most computer builds involve gaming... I do NOT game... so speed of a graphics card is not a major concern. I will be using my computer to mainly browse the internet ... spreadsheets, etc. No Computer games. I would like a computer to load fast with sufficient memory. My existing computer bogs down when I open a dozen windows at a time.

I now have an HP printer and will continue to use that.

i have a separate Windows machine so all that will be on this computer is Manjaro Linux. I want to be sure that the hardware is fine with linux. All the computer builds normally save money for a fast graphics card..... I dont think I need that?? I am wondering if I could use the graphics from a motherboard or have a simple graphics card. Again, no computer games. I may use a PhotoShop type editor (Like Linus Gimp) to process some photos.

Generally , what differences should I be looking at between a gaming build and a Linux Non gaming build? I will be building the computer as soon as I get the specs/parts.

Thanks!

I left out the case as that comes down to personal taste. I would also look into an NUC as you don't need the space for a graphics card.
