Linux based alternative to FreeNas

I was planning on putting a FreeNAS system together and got too excited about the cheap motherboard I found with GbE. FreeNAS doesn't seem to support my hardware so I'm trying to find something else that will do the job. Anyone have any ideas?
 
You sure its not compatible? I didn't think compatibility was much of an issue with FreeNAS, I had mine running on a 8+ year old system.
