Linux Audiobooks

I have downloaded a lot of audiobooks on my pcs but now I want to use my Linux desktop.
Does anyone know of a link that will give me a mp3 player to accomplish this?
I use Fedora Core 4.

Not all of them will work off the bat, not all of them come with the MP3 plugin installed, you must install the mp3 plugin first.
I use FC4, and I have found the most stable Mp3 player to be Beep. go to www.freshrpms.net and install bmp and it's mp3 plugin. .

That's a cool thing they are doing, but I just downloaded a couple and listened to them (in Debian Etch), and I had to shut them off after the first couple of seconds. They completely lack emotion, and with any text-to-speech software, the words are going to be pronounced oddly.

Not sure how to help with your mp3 problem, I used xmms out of the box on my machine, and it works fine.
 
beep media player works on it out of the box in ubuntu..I would have to slide over to my fedora later but I suspect my real audio player would handle it fine
 
Realplayer 10 works fine. I can now listen to my mp3 audiobooks. At the moment, Captain Horatio Hornblower original Radio reproductions, sounds GREAT! Thanks you!!!!!
 
pkme2 you should of tried to get the sound working with a simpler soultion FIRST, such as XMMS, that is afterall the Linux way, simplicity,otherwise you are missing the point of what Linux is about, which simplicity happens to be one, among other things. 😉
 
I tried that, did that and tried all the steps needed to get my mp3s to work. daniel49 had the solution. The other stuff wouldn't work no matter how hard I tried to make it. Simple, I like. The Real Player 10 will be on all my students' machines. We got a winner!

Nah a REAL Linux user doesn't give up that easy. If RealPlayer works so does Xmms, you're just not doing something right.

LOL, that's funny RealPlayer is more invloved then getting Xmms working.

Never give up, you want a quality running OS, especially with a Unix based OS like Linux, never try and take the easy way out, in the end all you'll be doing is short changing yourself and you might as well not even be running it.
