Linux and WinModem?

linmodem.org or something like that has drivers for some winmodems. Winmodems require specific drivers tailored to them, real modems all use the same driver (in Windows atleast), and only require specifics in the init strings. So basically, no one has written drivers for the winmodems that dont work, but who still uses modems?

PCTel HSP lose-modems are also supported. I found it interesting (and telling) that the binary module occupied 1 MB memory whereas most modules are pretty small.

Yeah, check out linmodems.org, I know a lot of people that have used winmodems with linux thanks to that site.

I've used a lucent "win" modem with linux before and it worked great. Even better than it works in windows, actually. :)
