I've never got a chance to run my 2500K using SSE2 (SP1 already installed), but according to this person,

The potential of AVX is huge. (70~80% real gain, 100% theoretical gain?)

AVX basically doubles the GFLops.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what I'm looking at. (especially those y and R² values) Is it frequency scaling?

The data above (post #224, 75% gain by AVX) was a sub-optimal run for AVX, I suppose?

Edit: Post #224, not 225. (47.4 GB/s to 83.9 GB/s by AVX)

Sorry lopri, I didn't see your post/question before.

Yeah, that graph is frequency scaling but that wasn't why I added it. I was just pointing out how much GFlops you get at a given clockspeed for what is an "optimal" run with AVX.

I would assume that the lack of near-perfect doubling in post 224 for w/AVX and w/o AVX is because the w/AVX run was not done as optimally as the w/o AVX run had been done.

Temps are still below tjmax, but they are alittle high anyway. Should roughly be 10C lower.

What board do you have? Some autooverclocks the turbobins to max. Is your CPU running 3.6 or 3.8Ghz when doing Linpack?

No O.C what so ever! 100% stock
Cpu was running at 3.592 Ghz

M.B is AsRock Z68 Extreme3

It has a stock Intel Fan
System is install in its Temp home which is Mini Tower with One Intake, one Exhaust with P/S sucking out from top.

Mine peaks around 85C, stock as well. And 25-30C ambient. So eother your 3570K just gets hotter. Your case airflow aint really that good. Or ambient/mobo/gpu makes more heat inside?

Again tho, nothing is wrong. Linpack is about the most heat productive load you can do. So if it can handle Linpack, it can surely handle everything else.

I thought it was hot as hell for laptop with Sandybridge CPU! isn't it ?
and my ambient temps are 22-24.
Now with temporary house for my i5 also equipped with WD 1TB Black, That is also tend to run warmer.

Tjmax is 100C for your SB. And the manufactor might have gone for higher temps, but more silent. However in my views the temps are perfectly normal.
