Don't hate bc I like linksys. My question is why do they not support 64bit systems yet. Or atleast not alot of. I havent found one vista(xp 64) driver. I am constantly told they dont support it at all. Why ? Do any other good companies support it?

Vista is still WAY too new to expect what you desire. Especially in the network driver arena.

A nice email to Linksys support might clarify the issue.

However it might be that they do not have hardware with chipset that can support it.

The Network vendor do not design and manufactures the chipsets that is used by Network devices, they buy it from others.

As an example, the chipset manufactures Ralink and Realtek have chipsets that support Vista 64, and they provide Drivers for it.

If Linksys makes a business decision not to use their chipsets, or of any other manufacturer that sells Vista 64 compatible chipset, then No Vista64 by Linksys.

Our love and hate to manufacturer (that usually do not care about us but about our wallets) is a personal psychological issue that has nothing to do technology and the business world.

I do not love or hate or emotionally care about any of them, I buy what solves work related technological demands, and when I have a choice whatever give me the best value for my money.

So sometime I buy Linksys:thumbsup:, and many times I do not.

Jack, I see this as well. It's sad really. But it's pure marketing genius.

All aspects of this board are beholden to brand names in every single sub-forum. Remember, the battle is in the consumer's mind, no matter if you have the crappiest product. If your consumer perceives you to be the best, then you are the best and can charge a premium. Perception is reality.

And by charging a premium your customers believe they are getting a "best" product. I'd be really interested on your thoughts on this well known, well understood phenomena.

Maybe start a new thread, because I am for the most part a Cisco bigot and make no bones about it. But gee, I'm not emotionally offended if they are trashed. Cisco does some things well, other things not very good. Cisco is not "the best" by any means, there is no "best" when it comes to networking...just what does what you need.

I just see this "gimme the best" mentality, and that is a function of price-point and marketing. Look into the vodka industry to understand.

I try to help people with their careers in OT and try to teach them this understanding with negotiations...but they just don't get it.
