Linksys

Is Linksys brand stuff any better now that it has the Cisco Systems brand label on it?

Or is it still typical Linksys "qualitiy" junk?

I am still trying to figure out how Linksys is junk. I think you meant to say D-Link instead. 😉

Well compared to Cisco products...

I'm just wondering if the actual product has changed any at all since Cisco acquired the line.

That is all.

EDIT: Living at sea and alcohol really deteriorate spelling abilities!

Compared to cisco? Linksys is a pretty decent home type network equip. while cisco is professional grade. Yes?

Linksys stuff now is probably "dumbed down" versions of Cisco products, so I'd definately think that their quality is decent. I've had a WRT54G for almost a year now and have yet to reset the thing except for firmware flashes.

Linksys and Cisco have completely different products lines aimed at completely different markets. None of their products can come close to being compared/engineered against one another. 64 port fibre channel router vs a 8 port ethernet NAT router? It's like comparing an Excel spreadsheet and a full Oracle database. Apples and oranges, they're both fruit, that's about it. At most Cisco and Linksys work together for standards compliance, maybe a port of IOS a couple years down the line. Shared manufacturing? LoL. As if.

Linksys is a marketing and distribution company doing little or no R&D. Cisco is a complete company doing R&D through manufacturing. Linkys products are generally designed and manufactured in Asia to some spec that is generated in the US. Cisco is far more advanced in general. Yes, Cisco owns Linksys and perhaps they have some interaction, but the business model remains the same for Linksys.

It is like the difference between buying an Apple Mac computer and an E-machines PC.

Think about what you're asking for a second. Do you honestly think there's any chance that Linksys re-engineered all of their products just because they are now associated with Cisco? It's obviously the same stuff as it was before.
