Which one is better? The WRT54GX2 seems newer because of the case. I noticed that it doesn't let you put a different antenna on it though.

Ok.. I see that the WRT54GX2 is a lame duck as far as the MIMO technology, but will it still give me better range and speed than the Linksys wireless b router that I'd be replacing? How does it compare to the WRT54GS? Just as a basic router and not all the extra features lke speedboost or MIMO? If I would see an improvement, would I need a new client card to see it?

Thanks Jack! So either of these will be better than the either of the Linksys routers even if I don't flash them to DD-WRT?

I'll probably get the model with a bit more range. I can always use more range. I need either a USB (preferbly) or a PCI client. I'm not using a laptop, so I can't use a card.

Also, is this router picky about clients? I'm asking because I have a few Linksys wireless b clients lying around that I'd like to use in a pinch for another pc in the house if I have to.

Cool. I asked because in my experience some hardware doesn't like other brand hardware.

I looked at the clients for the Buffalo router at Newegg and only see a pci adapter or a network card. No USB clients. I'm kind of hooked on USB clients because I can transfer them easily to other pc's. It looks like I'm kind of SOL if I want a USB client and want to take advantage of the added features of the Buffalo router.

I never use it and I have No clue how it performs.

This model is a discontinued one, and it is very good (and expensive).

Search may be you would find a deal.

I saw the little pen adapter. Linksys has one like that too. I wonder how good it is though considering that Linksys has an additional line of USB clients that are larger. If the smaller ones are just as good, why would Linksys offer the larger ones?

The discontinued model that you linked for me above doesn't appear to be the newer technology. I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the faster router with it, would I?

This model looks good., but I don't see it for sale outside of the UK.

What do you use as a client for a desktop?
