Linksys WRT54G for $50 no rebate @ your local RadioSux store

I went to RadioSux' rebate center (page2) and saw the rebate form. They're showing that the promo has expired 3 weeks ago. However, when I went to B&M store, the red sticker thingy (sale items) is still posted.

Try you luck, talk to the CSR. The most you will pay is $15 if they deny your rebate. Goodluck!

Range Extender Antenna. Out of stock on-line but our local RS has 3 of these.

Beware as these will be the crappy V5 versions that cannot be loaded with open source firmware- and the units them selfs are crap and falure pron.

Not in my experience. We sell these all the time and have had no problems.

its not the fact there are no problems, its that people get the WRT54G because you can flash aftermarket firmware which adds many features.

I would suggest people spend a little more and get the WRT54GL from amazon for like $65 (it is a WRT54G v4). Then flash an aftermarket firmware like dd-wrt, or hyperWRT.

I sometimes drop signal in my room, my router is 2 rooms away from me and is a wrt54gs. If I got the range extender would it make a significant difference?

I tried to put firmware on it before but my router died and I had to get it replaced

Could I get a link with a little more info on this?
Sorry, slightly off topic. Right now I have an old befw11s4 that rocks for games - I can get ~ 20 pings in most my games (comcast 6/down). I posted up that deal recently for the wrt54gc router, popped it in and my download speeds were nicly improved, as was my throughput. However, I was getting packet loss, and my ping went from 20 ~ 150 on the new router so i'm back to my old. The problem now is, my befw11s4 has slow download speeds, so i'm wondering, --
should I wait for the draft n to be finalized and hold out or should I hop on one of the wrt54gl (i think the wrt54gs is reflashable, no?)

linksysinfo.org

I checked all the serial numbers at a couple local Radioshack's a while back and all they had was version 5's.
edit: this from linksysinfo.org above:
The first four digits of the serial number will indicate the packaged hardware version. If unit is outside of the box, the version is indicated on the silver stick on the bottom front of the router.
WRT54G
CDF0 = WRT54G v1.0
CDF1 = WRT54G v1.0
CDF2 = WRT54G v1.1
CDF3 = WRT54G v1.1
CDF5 = WRT54G v2.0
CDF7 = WRT54G v2.2
CDF8 = WRT54G v3.0
CDF9 = WRT54G v3.1
CDFA = WRT54G v4.0
CDFB = WRT54G v5.0 <--VxWorks based = bad
