Linksys WRT54G and Verizon DSL connection problem!

I just switched from netgear MR814 wireless router to the linksys WRT54G and I am getting disconnected from internetrandomly. The router won't reconnect back automatically. I have to go into setup every time and try to do manual connect. I never had the problem with netgear one. The dsl modem is Westell 2200.
I upgraded the firmware to sveasoft one too, and probelm still happens.
Anyone have the same problem or any suggestion, please?

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

I had a similar problem with my connection through SBC DSL. I network using Netgear and it would connect and all of a sudden dump. SBC told me that it was because they broadcast a dynamic IP and for the connection to work with my router I need a Static IP.

Would you be willing to tell us what your settings were on the old Netgear router? I have the exact same setup as you did, and I'm having some issues with it.

Thanks a lot, and take care.

That's a lie...

If you never tried it with the REAL firmware (IE what you are supposed to use) don't start saying you have a bad router. Try it with the newest Linksys/Cisco firmware and see what happens first.

There is a known wierdness with SBC DSL, I think. Or maybe that was the AOL broadband DSL. One of the two. Something about their requirement for a non-standard PPPoE connection, that made some routers puke.
