LinkSys WPC11 wont connect to my SMC Wireless Barricade Router

For some reason, when I install my Wireless Linksys PC Card, it does not create a TCP/IP for it and I cannot create one for it.

I believe this to be the reason that it will not let me connect.
(I have a USB wireless adapter which installs fine, including a TCP/IP, and works perfectly)

Anybody know if theres some way to fix this? Or if maybe the card is bad?
At this point, should I return it to the store or to the manufacturer?

thanks... i think mine is a software installation problem, and the linksys guy says I should return it and get another brand (how about that for advice from a linksys employee?)
