Linksys Wireless Router Issues

Okay, this is about my friends wireless network. Randomly, for no reason, his router will stop transmitting a wireless signal. It says the wireless is working, but there is no activity. Power cycling the router makes it work again, but it's annoying to do that every half hour or so. Anyone have any ideas of what the problem is? Everything else checks out fine (modem is getting internet, router is connected to modem, router is getting internet, modem is transmitting to router, everything), so I don't know what the problem could be. It drops the WHOLE network, not just his PC. It just cuts it off.

Linksys stock firmware tends to have these issues. I know my old BEFW11S4 would do this.

It has issues with all the bittorrent connections overloading a storage area, I suspect that some types of scans caused it to brick up (as yours and mine did) for seemingly no reason.

I've been much happier since I swapped that unit with a WRT54GL running aftermarket firmware.

If you would tell us what is the Router's model and the general Wireless computer setting it would be a lot of help to every one.

Yeah, sorry, I can ask him about that tomorrow. I would tell him to make an account on here, but... that's kind of hard considering the situation. 😛
