Linksys VPN woes

My buddy and I bought these thinking it would be a piece of cake to get them going. Right now they are linked, and the connection is active, but we can't get much further.

How can we get some sort of GUI out of these? We've set up Win2k/XP through the directions on the Linksys site, but they either make the system not work on the LAN, or just don't do anything. Is there some way to set up an Icon for my friend's network and shared drives?

One thing, I noticed that MSN Messenger seems to be going through the VPN (I forgot how I reached this conclusion but it was justifiable when I did reach it 🙂 )

We are both on Comcast cable, and our IP's are relatively static (routers are on battery backup, etc.)

All help and suggestions are appreciated!

go get the newest firmware version 1.40.2. in it there is something called netbios forwarding... if you enable this you should see your friends computer in your network neighbothood.
