This is a very nice VOIP adapter enabling you to make and receive calls to both IP and non-IP (PSTN) phone users. Supports two different VOIP providers, one for each phone line. This device is LOCKED to Vonage when you get it from CC but can be unlocked for use with any provider.

*** See my last post below for new info on CC deal, get it for $10 + free $50 CC GC. ***

*** IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP *** - if you want to unlock this thing, DO NOT plug it into a LAN with access to the internet (e.g. your router, some switch connected to your router, directly to your DSL or cable modem, etc.). Disconnect your internet access at the modem first. Failure to do so will allow the adapter to download new firmware which will lock you out.

Unlock thread at BBReports

After you unlock it, Voxilla can auto-config it for a ton of different providers for you here.

Note that you can also make this thing a Sipura SPA-2000 after unlocking by flashing with firmware found here.

Mad props to montreid at B$ for the deal.

The stores have been robbed clean in the greater seattle area. I called staples 800 number and the lady said they are discontinued, I doubt that though. Good luck finding any.

BestBuy is selling the PAP2 for $35 this week per the weekly ad, so go to Staples, get a 110% PM and make around $15 on the deal.

Admin guide with all features explained on device can be found here. Click on free button at bottom to download.

did the PM today - got $52 back on 3 of em. The way Staples does PM is to return the item and resell it ... so have to submit new EasyRebates as their computer will cancel the returned item rebates

I am sorry to ask the stupid question: why is the product so hot? If you sign up a voip service, don't you get one for free?

I found three of them today (Sunday) at Staples in Kent, on East Hill. I bought one, so check it to see if you can still find one of 'em.

You can use them to sign up for FREE VoIP service, such as VoiceBuster-->free outgoing to any US phone and more.
And FreeWorldDialup with an IPKall phone number --> free incoming with a real phone number

So you have a free device, and free telephone service = hot

For anyone not familiar with Stanaphone, they give you free inbound calls to a provided NY phone number. Once you register with them, login to your account and go to the 'Config SIP' page on your account screen. You can then register with Voxilla and use the auto-config page there to setup your PAP2 with service on line 1. Do this first before configuring Voipbuster. Try to call your new Stanaphone number from your landline or cell. Go have a beer.

If you want unlimited US outbound calls for about 6 bux (total), go to Voipbuster and download the app. Use it to register for an account. Now, here comes the fun part. Login to your PAP2 and enter the following params on the line 2 page (be sure to switch to advanced view):

Line enable: yes
NAT mapping enable: yes
Proxy: stun.voipbuster.com
Use outbound proxy: yes
Outbound proxy: nat.voiptalk.com:5065
User ID: <your Voipbuster user ID>
Password: <your Voipbuster password>
Dialplan: (<:001>xxxxxxxxxx)

Save settings and hopefully you'll now have 4 nice blue lights on your new unlocked PAP2. Note that this dialplan is for US 10-digit dialing, so you'll have to dial area code and phone number for all calls. Also note that I've not been able to get toll-free calls to work, probably because the calls originate on the PSTN from a European source. Try to call your Stanaphone number from line 2. Go have another beer.

If you want unlimited calls and your outbound is now working, start the Voipbuster app, click on the account link in the app and Paypal them 5 euros (about $6) to enable unlimited calls. Voipbuster has been ditching countries from the free plan so this may not last long, but hey it's fun while it lasts. Congrats, you now have free unlimited phone service. Drink the rest of the six-pack while calling all your friends and family.

There are big threads on FW and the dslreports VOIP forum on how to config these things if you have probs, you might want to do some reading if things don't work.

Hi I am deffently getting this PAP2 and I am going to unlock it but here's the 2 questions that I have and would like for someone to answer for me please thanks.

Question 1: I have heard that once PAP2 is unlocked it's firmware is Sipura. Correct me if I am wrong this is what I have been reading. Now I have heard that after it's unlocked at Spiura firmare you can flash the firmware to linksys's version 3.13 but no one has tried latest which is 3.15 as I read. I would like to know how to keep it unlocked and the steps and files where to get required to get it flashed to 3.13 if wise to do or is the Sipura better??? Any help thanks.

Question 2: Well this is kind of a 2-3 part question. Also I know you can get the NY number for free to get incomming calls and stuff. I am looking for free incomming calls and outgoing calls to people in the usa. If that's possible where to go to get it for PAP2. Also I would like to be calling a friend that used to live in USA but moved back to France. Is ther a way to get international calls for free or maybe a phone line setup for free or a one time cheap price with unlimited calling to france or maybe a france number on my PAP2 so I can call locally to him. If so how and where.

Sorry for all the questions but I have read in a few places that all the lights works and all both lines work on the PAP2 with the linksys 3.13 version does it work with the Sipura version too. Also is it possible to have both lines used and setup with different numbers. Thanks.
