Linksys router slowing down my dsl connection??

I have Verizion DSl 768/128 and when my westell 2200 modem is connected directly to the computer i get 480/76, but when I go through the linksys wrt54g router (not using the wireless) my connection speed goes down to 410/50.

Any reasons for the speed decreases???? When connected through the router I use verizons speedtest page to test the connection.

What is your MTU set at in the router ? Try 1492.

kind of off topic but have you tried this firmware

you can really do some cool things with this router with modded firmware

linksys support suggested changing the ip of the router to 192.168.2.1, which they say effectively disables the NAT firewall.

Shouldn't the NAT be able to keep up with a 768kbps dsl connection?

are there any other wired router recommendations you guys have that don't have this problem

I think it is a problem of your specific unit, insist on RMA.

If tech support tells you that it will work without the Firewall, it is like they admit that the unit is defective.
