linksys router question

I own pacbell dsl ppoe basic service. Was wondering if anyone has noticed and slow down useing linksys router. When I use xp to dial in to isp with out the router it seems as if my connection is faster. If for example i was uploading a file to someone and then stated a download. It would seems as though upload speed would get cut in half useing the router also download speed would also slow down useing the router. If I use xp to dial in it seems as though things are as they should be download and upload are totaly sepperat from each other. I get my full upload speed and can have many downloads going without one affecting the other.

linksys router when i do dial in is useing 512k and is always keeping me connected. Any ideas would be great

thanks

good question. I never thought about that. I have pacbell dsl too with a linksys router but I never bothered to directly connect from my computer.

If the same thing happens to you i would love to know about it. Just so i know its just not me. But if you do a test its pretty obvious. Just start 2 ftp transfers one up and the other down. First do the up then start the down and see if the up speed changes. Mine does when connected threw the router. But when I use enternet 300 or xp. down and up do not affect each other.
