Linksys Router problem-help please

My original network consisted of a two computer LAN. Printers and drives were shared. Both computers ran Win98SE, connected to a Linksys BEFSR41 router and each computer used a Linksys LNE 100TX NIC. Internet access is via an external cable modem, Surfboard SB3100.
I then built myself a new computer, including an Abit KG7 RAID motherboard and Athalon 1400 GBz processor, clean install of Win98SE. With leftover parts from one of the original computers on my LAN I put together a third computer running WinME, and put in a D-Link DFE 530 TX+ NIC card.
Now I have a three computer LAN connected to the WAN (Internet) via the above cable modem. All three computers on the LAN connect to the internet with no problems.
My problem is that I cannot see the other computers on the LAN. I cannot share printers or drives. The problem seemed worse on the Athalon computer(the other two computers have PIII processors) Initially the lights on the router for the Athalon computer would stay on all the time whether or not the unit was powered on or off. Linksys tech support said the router was bad and sent me a new one. The same result. I had an extra NIC card so I changed the Linksys LNE 100TX+ for a D-Link DFE 100 TX+ in the Athalon. This fixed the light staying on on the router when the computer was powered down, but I still cannot see the computers on the LAN from the athalon computer. I can see the computers from the other Win98SE computer, but cannot access the Athalon computer drives even though it shows on the LAN.
I am using TCP/IP protocol, which worked fine before.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Could it be a driver problem with the athalon computer?
Thanks

Have you installed NETBEUI and File and Printer Sharing? I believe in Win98, you need NETBEUI to share files. I could be wrong though. Hope this helps.

I have not installed NETBUI. I did not need it before. But I will give it a try. File & Printer sharing is activated

From each of the three computers: I can access the internet
I can access the router from a browser
I can ping the router
From the Athalon computer: I can ping the second computer
From PIII computer: I cannot ping athalon computer
