Linksys Router Firewall Troubles

If someone can help me out with this i will be so happy. My problem is that everytime I try to use a file sharing program (for example: Direct Connect, or even transferring files with AIM). I can't do it because of the routers firewall. Is there anyway to set it so my computer isn't behind the routers firewall so i can transfer files? I have looked all through the settings and can't figure it out. I am sure someone out there has/had the same problem and hopefully found a solution. Please e-mail me if you do. Thanks.

Nate, there are many ways to do what you're trying to do.

First, you can set your PC up as the DMZ PC in the Linksys configuration. The better way to do it is to forward the specific ports needed by your application such that they will be forwarded to your PC. There's lots of info out there to explain how to do it, but you can start here: Practically Networked

Hi. I subscribe to Comcast, and they told me that if I setup a router, I will be charged 7 bucks per computer connected to the router, is that true? They told me that they know if there are more than 1 computer connected to the line. Are they BSing me?
