Bad_Dude - Can you be our official OM representative? Tell us about deals and so forth? Also I was curious as to the policy with employees lying. What I mean is everytime I ask my local Office Max about the deal they are very surprised at the price I give them and then even though the corporate computer shows they have something like 5 in stock, mysteriously the manager goes in back and comes out and says "Yeah too bad I wanted one for myself but they are all gone!" Keeping them for himself?

Thought I would stop by the local Office Max today at lunch to see if they still had any left. I didn't have high hopes since it has been a few days since the original post. THEY HAD TWO!! These types of deals are SOOO much better when you find something that you were about to purchase anyway! I was ready to drop 60bucks for this kit! Now I am only going to pay $4 after the rebate!

There was a ton of crap at office max on clearence. They put these little yellow tags on the boxes of the clearenced stuff but leave the original prices on them. Who knows what deals we are missing! The Linksys kit had those tags in the back where you pull one and take it to the counter. There must have been 10 to 15 tags on this box. They were all listed as $99. I thought I hit the jackpot! I told them I would take five kits but after they looked they only had two.

So like I said, there were a lot of stuff on clearence but you have to take the stuff to the cashier to find out what the actual prices are! It was too busy for me to start takeing items up to the cashier to determine clearenced prices but I will go back and let you all know if there is anything good.

Later....

You can add the San Fernando Valley onto the list of OOS for this one. Both stores (Chatsworth and Van Nuys) are out and aren't getting any back in. Discontinued.

I got a kit for trade or sale but don't know what to trade for and how much I should sell it for. Perhaps some one can suggest it to me. I don't have the outbox cover just the inside white box so you won't get the rebate. However, everything is still seal in the box. We took the outer cover to display in our store but we lost it. I had to sell two kit brand new to a customer as he demanded the box. Oh! Customer first I guess. Any one wants it? Email me please as I do not want an auction or pricematch session here.
Thanks.

Woot walked in to the Omax I used to work for and stole the last two... also went to another one and picked up one more. If anyone's in the Pontiac Michigan area there's a store that said they had 3-4 on hand in their computer. It's the store across from Summit Place Mall. I'm sure a bunch of other stores around must have some because most of the employee's don't know about the discount and as in the case of the store i used to work at, the pull tag still has $99.00 on it. :) Thanx for posting... very good deal :).

i feel it's better to give them as gifts to my computer-savvy friends/or bosses, but that's me... why suck them all up to sell? i'm giving my area a week and THEN i'm cleaning them out... :)

Sorry for reposting my question from the other thread:

if I save this product in my OD shopping cart at $29.88, will I be able to keep this price when the kit comes back in stock ?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Being that it is a clearance item, I doubt that it will come back in stock.
If so, in the past at other sites I haven't had any luck getting that to happen..
I'd leave a couple in just in case, maybe you'll get lucky, it sure can't hurt..

Well, after following this story the past two days, I finally have to tell my story of, Finding the Linksys "Network in a Box" Deal. On Dec 5,2000 at approxiamately 4:30PM I walked into the local Office Depot to search for the alleged "Link in a Bink" or whatever you call it. I expected to find nothing and nothing I found. I thought I would ask to be on the safe side. So I pulled out my printed info from Office Depot's website and handed it to the nearest sales rep.. He proceeded to check the stock room. To my astonishment he returnd with the alleged "Link in a Box" or "Box on a rope" or whatever you call it. I said "Do you have anymore?" and he frowned or grimaced as if to tell me "YEh, but I was saving it for myself." So I felt guilty and insisted he keep it for himself. He could not agree ,reluctantly, because his fellow coworkers were watching the fiasco and that would not look good on him if he prevented a customer from a purchase. So I bought two!(for $30.00/pc) Now remember the "Net in a box" was not displayed and they had to retrieve it from lock-up. Next store, I stopped by Office Max to continue the hunt. I looked around for the "Link in a Net" but it was not displayed and it could not be found. I asked a sales rep once again to check in lockup for the "Box of links" and sure enough he had one in the back. This particular "Box of Networks" was of the version 2.0 variety which included a different but new and improved hub that fits into the palm of your hand. I was happy to purchase this one at $19.99. Next store! I walked into the Office Depot acrosss town to find no "Links" or "Binks" or "Boxes" or "Networks in a Link" but I remembered from my past experience that they may be lurking in lockup waiting for me to find. So once again I asked a sales rep " Do you have the "Link in the Bink" or "Net in a Bonk"?" He checked, and quickly returned and replied with a slite grin " No. I am sorry but we are out." I thought to myself "I dont think that was funny. Why did he think that was funny? Self! He is not telling the truth lets wait awhile and ask again but not him because he is a little grinner." So I walk around for about 30 minutes and I make my move. I walked up to the front as I was leaving of course and picked the most honost lookin individual I could find. "Excuse me sir! I just wanted to make sure you did not have this product in stock, before I leave. Can you check this sku number for me and see if it might be in the back in lockup?" He responded with great enthusiasm " Yes sir! I would be happy to!" About 1.5 minutes later he exited with one "Link in a Box" and I asked " Are there anymore?" He said "Yes, there is one more." I thought(as I scanned the store for the punk who told me with a big crappy grin, "No. I am sorry but we are out.")YOU LIAR!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to take the "Kits" and show him that his decision to lie to me may have been a bad thing for his little plan. Anyway, I bought the Linksys Kits for a pricematched $19.99/pc. On to Walmart!!!! Walmart, Walmart, Walmart, Why did you have to hurt me so bad? I found 5 boxes there but that is where they stayed at a cool reduced price of $88.00/pc previously at $119.00. The manager would not match prices with Office Max even after I showed him the receipt. He said "We Wehant do thwat! Thwe pwice is to muth oth a diffunce!! Wehant do thwat! " He called the Office Max and he said that theres was $49.00 and it DIDN'T COOOME WIfa A GAAAA Ma! He would not even match the $49.00 price. He then asked me why I did not buy more from the other places!! I should have said,"No. I am sorry but they are out and it DIDN'T COOOME WIfa A GAAAA Ma!"
