Linksys Adapter Not Working

Back in town for the weekend and of course the folks are having some computer issues. I actually reformatted this laptop and threw fresh drivers on it last time I was home and apparently that didn't help.

Uninstalled the drivers and put new ones on but still the same problem. When I open the wireless network monitor it says the adapter is inactive but I don't know how to activate it. The internet works fine if I plug it into the network, but that's obviously not going to work all the time with a laptop.

For reference purposes, the model number is WPC54GS and I'm using the latest driver/network monitor. Any help is much appreciated as this one's really got me stumped. I've used this card on this laptop before and it's worked fine. I can't figure out what's wrong, especially since I know the computer is fresh off of a reformat.
