Outpost has lower price on this one to $109.95 (sku# 66841)

Order it from Staples (IM1008611)
Ask for Pricematching
Use $30 off $100 coupon
(no shipping charge since Outpost has Free Overnight S/H on order over $100.00)

Total $109.95-$30 (coupon)= $79.95 plus tax shipped.

Wish I had waited on this deal, already got it the same way when Outpost had it for $129.95......sigh...good luck.

Not sure about this model, but if you are using PPPOE for your DSL service, this router, or at least Linksys routers, might be trouble. Maybe this has all been corrected and I am way off base, but this is what I heard recently.

I have checked them out and think it'd better to PM with Outpost since Techstore.com charges Shipping. And that would up the price on PM, remember that if Staples can ship it out next day, they will add Techstore.com $16.95 (2nd day s/h) to the PM price. Do the math again.

I have both dsl and PPPoE and this router... so whats the big deal? i run a westell dsl modem and this sucker rarely has problems.. after 3-4 days sometimes i get kicked off.. i seriously doubt thats my routers problem.. i have had to unplug it once or twice "with older firmware"
to make it connect correctly but since firmware i haven't had a hiccup...
and it now supports CLONING your mac addy.. especially important for some users..

pricematching the linksys router is almost impossible, I went through three different CSR's and no luck...one guy told me I cant use coupon, another told me it's out of stock, and another...well....you get the idea...

linksys routers are as good as any others with new firmware

When you PM at Staples, try to ask them to check if it's in stock first.

Then......order it, and don't forget to ask them to PM the price down to what Outpost offers.

Then ask them to apply coupon, I have never had problem with this procedure (maybe I'm lucky).

But as far as "coupon" is concerned, there's no such rule that you can't do both PM and Coupon.

If they deny to do so, yell it to their supervisor and ask if there's such a policy.

For people who say this thing suck$, you could prolly be right. If you think it does, ask yourself if you've tried firmware update yet. Personally, I have zero problem using this everyday.

Hello,I'm new here and just wanted to mention that I jumped on this deal.It came out to $86.35 with the pricematch with Outpost.com and the $30/$100 coupon.I'm crossing my fingers that this will work with my DSL setup (which is PPOE).

as for the router...make sure you upgrade to the latest firmware...i'm using it to share my cable modem between 2 computers...runs flawlessly

Just bypass the whole coupon fiasco. Verify that the router is in stock at both places (Staples and whereever). Order the routher online with the coupon. Then immediately call customer service and have them price match.

Works everytime for me... no questions asked... just 5 or 10 minutes on hold while they verify the information. Mine came to ~$86 when I price matched to buy.coms (104.95 price). 104.95 - 30 + shipping + tax = 86.

The reason I do it this way is that there is never any hassle about where the coupon came from.

Your mileage may vary. :)

I know several people here at work that use this router for PPoE and have never heard a complaint. I seriously think that Linksys has MOST of the bugs worked out of this router in the latest firmware.

Yes tech support sucks but so do the others... I sent an email to NetGears tech support over a week ago and haven't heard a word... also waited on the phone for over 45 mintues before I gave up.

I had both the Netgear and the Linksys... both worked great for Internet Sharing but the Linksys worked better with our Checkpoint SecureRemote VPN solution.

Want to hear something funny?

I paid the full suggested retail price for this at Frys. 179.95 :(. This was just a few months ago and before I knew about this board. Doh!

Linksys works fine with @Home for me.
I have not used dialpad with it.
But thanks for reminding me, I will test it out in the next day or two...

Just got mine that I ordered from Buy.com while it was $105. Set it up in under 10 minutes, working perfectly. Shields Up is now reporting all ports in Stealth Mode.

A point of advice ... go get ZoneAlarm, too. Everyone needs a good Software firewall, and ZoneAlarm is the only one that Cryptographically checks for Trojans. If Steve (Gibson) recommends it, well, that's good enough for me.

Please note that this is not a modem as stated two posts above. It is a router so you still need your DSL/Cable Modem. This will just provide you with NAT and some level of security.
