Hurry because free shipping at Buy.com ends 12/18/00. They have the Linksys 4 Port Cable Modem/DSL Switched Router for $149.95, use a $30 off, and $20 rebate which brings it to $99.95. This is a great deal if you are looking to share multiple computers over your DSL or Cable Modem, protects them as a firewall as well!

Right, but you can always add a blank CDR, a network patch cable, etc... and get it over $150. Search for any of these, then click the sort by Price Low to High to find the cheapest thing. Anything in Computers, Software, or Electronics is shipped free as long as it's under 20 pounds, and they'll upgrade you to 2nd day air for $1.95 per item through today only as well if you need it in time for Christmas.

Or you can price match it to staples and use a $40 off coupon and still get the $20 off rebate. Total drops a few bucks if you can get it through a Staples CSR.

True, guess that would be better if you can talk Staples into it... it all depends on where you are located for sales tax though. Buy.com has sales tax in California vs. Staples (if your state has sales tax). Good alternative to avoid sales tax!

You think it would work better than the smc barricade??

I do know that for annyone that is doing amazon shopping it is at amazon.com for the same price.
amazon . com linksys
Although there is no 30 buck coupon... all you have to do is spend 50 bucks more and then you can use the $50 off $200 coupon. this is a good deal if there is other electronics stuff that you want to get at amazon, (they sell cat 5 UTP cables) and probly have nic's to.

this would be a good deal for annyone who wanted all their networking equipment for a 2 or 3 computer lan for under $130 bucks

whaddya think?

I have the Linksys router and have had a solid working connection for as long as I've had it (6 months). Its a great product.

Most reviews I have read favor the SMC over the Linksys. Netgear is also highly thought of. Also, the SMC comes with a printer port for network printing and a serial port for attaching an external analog modem for a dial-up connection.
