Interesting. Wouldn't be surprised if it is true, what better way for Al Qaida to get back at the US than to take advantage of a confusing situation like post-war Iraq?

If they ARE Al Queda, right - take them down.

But what if they are just a cell that is psychologically turning up the heat on our inteligence
knowing that we tend to over-react, and will begin to lash out and strike at anything.
That would be them using us as a pawn to further spread the hatred toward America -
Let's them orchestrate us to be their recruiters against our presence.

They don't have to have any actual presence in Iraq to pull our chain and expand our willingness to launch a pre-empt
against any population center that they wish to make an alegation about.
We pull the trigger for them, further their cause, and take the hit both physically and emotionally.
Ultimate twist of fate.
 
It would be natural for Islamic militants to flock to Iraq now that it's been attacked. It happened in Afghanistan too, mostly w/ Pakistanis militants crossing the border wanting to defend the Taliban. Even though they probably hated Hussein's secular regime, they of course hate America even more... and now that we're occupying Arab lands...

No one should attack us because there are Al Qaeda here. We didn't attack Iraq solely for that reason either. There were links - and to say other wise is ignorace. The depth of the connection is the question - not wether or not there were links.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Tenet. As I've been digging through all of these articles lately, I've seen several that suggest the CIA warned Bush and his minions about the al Qaeda threat before Septmber 11. One report reportedly mentioned hijacking explicitly in connection with al Qaeda. However, Bush-lite was scheduled to take his August vacation, and did not act on this information himself. He also did NOT direct his staff to do anything about it. He did NOT direct the FAA to do anything to improve security.

If this information is true, the theory is Tenet is safe because he knows too much. If he talks, it would bring down the Bush administration.

I believe Tenet is on his way out because he has no stomach for this deciet. It is political, and the CIA is supposed to be above politics. Yes, Tenet has the goods on Bush. But it is also on him. Regardless of the intel at that time, It is difficult to believe such a thing would actually happen like 9/11. It was just too much to swallow, and I can see difficulty in that intel developing into any defense without tipping our hand and letting the enemy know we know what they are up to. Tenet did have knowledge and so did Bush. But who would have done any different? 9/11 is bad enough without blaming our own people for the dispicable act. Tenet will leave, and this will not be forgotten in 2004. An investigation will begin assoon as Tenet is relieved of duty at the CIA. Congress will call him to the hill to explain all of this, and any republican effort to block an investigation will be seen for what it is-----obstruction of justice.

Perhaps. But considering the scope of the alleged fabrications by Bush Regime officials, and the results of said alleged fabrications, TBA has a lot more to answer for than someone on this board would for asserting that Bush is an a$$hat.

U.S. Inteligence plays down Al Queda Claim

Maybe they're going to procede with kid gloves in order to avoid over-reacting.
As was pointed out, this may be more of a migrant Jihad with forigners coming
in - Pakistan, Afganistan, Saudi Arabia. We saw these types as the Illegal Combatants
that were rounded up in Afganistan, and there are many countries over there that will let
their young men go to a Muslin Holy War, Soldiers of Allah in their own minds.

Illegal Combatant or Soldier of Allah, same thing except for the refusal to recognize them
as a prisoner of war, so we do not have the constraints of the Geneva Convention.

Unfortunaterly this could escalate in a hurry if the Arabs respond in mass, but they
likely will stay underground and transition into a more clandestine guerilla war.
