Both are Netgear (GS108 and FS105.) Both have Auto-Sensing and Auto-Uplink.

What I am trying to do: The GS108 is hooked to my router through attic wiring. 3 devices, located by the GS108, are connected to it. Another port on the GS108 is connected, via ethernet cable, to outlet that goes through an additional Ethernet cable to a downstairs room. Previously, I only had one device in that downstairs room, so I just hooked it up to that cable. Now I have a second device at that same downstairs location. So I want to add a switch there, so I can connect both devices. It is a Directv receiver and a TV, and I see no reason to have a gigabyte switch there, so I am getting a FS105 (5 port 10/100.)

Should that work?

Also, through the Auto Sensing/Auto Uplink of both switches, will the GS108 established a 100M connection the GS105, and devices hooked to the GS105, but still offer Gigabyte connections on its other ports for devices that are capable of Gigabyte connections? In other words, hooking the FS105 to GS 108 won't make the GS108 downgrade to only offering 10/100 on its other ports will it?

Yes.

It's been a fairly long time since Gigabit switches had that limitation. I would say no. You can always check the specs though.
