Linkin Park - New Divide

Ohhhh, I like it.

It's almost like a mesh of old LP and M2M (which I liked).

That's what I was thinking. I didn't particularly like Minutes to Midnight, though.

Not enough yelling on Chester's part IMO but still decent.

They're really gone soft with him yelling, I almost wonder if its related to it killing his throat all the time...

And not a single lyric from Mike Shinoda.

Rofl, I opened this thread and then LP came on my shuffle playlist in WMP. The song? CRAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWLING INNNNNN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN!

i was going to delay my trip to taiwan until August, so i can go see them, but sadly, the tickets for the 40,000 capacity stadium is nowhere to be found.

This.

It's not terrible, but it's not really that great either.

<edit>
Oh, and that parody video was f'ing hilarious .. and true.

I like it. Linkin Park is awesome but even I thought Minutes to Midnight was pretty lame save for 2 or 3 songs.

I thought so too...I don't know why so many people hated it.

As for this song, I can listen to it once or twice, but thats it. Doesn't have the impact of their first albums.

It seems like somewhat of a happy medium between old LP and Minutes to Midnight.
At least, a medium that's as close to MtM as I'll tolerate. I'd much prefer LP to return to their roots.
Combining the styles, I could handle, and maybe even enjoy, if New Divide ends up being one of the lesser quality tracks of the album.
But, going on past example - with What I've Done being the single that was in Transformers - and I think that was one of their better, if not the best song on Minutes to Midnight.
Granted, I can enjoy that album, but I don't recognize it as Linkin Park. It's a terrible album in relation to their previous works.

But if that little taste of goodness that was in New Divide, that short moment of "wait, this is like Linkin Park yes?", that almost had an impostor Nine Inch Nails taste to it. If they can incorporate that sound into a majority of their new album, I'd be happy, even if its just in short bursts. At least it would blow away Minutes to Midnight.

(edit/Note: I take that back. Given Up was probably the best from their latest album. End point remains the same.)

I liked M2M (not all of it, but a decent amount) =/

Not bad, is this just new for transformers, or is a new album coming really soon too?

heard that their new album, coming late 2009 or 2010 will be a concept album.

concept albums can be kickass. It just depends on the actual style of music they are going to use as the basis. granted, concept albums tend to run the gamut of sounds, but there tends to be a unifying musical style that runs through the entire album too. hopefully its not plain alternative rock.

If Shinoda doesn't do any rap, I'll be pissed. That rapcore-mixed-with-nu-metal sound was pretty refreshing; although far from new, I enjoyed that approach they had to rock, instead of just pure alt rock - they aren't refreshing anymore with alt rock fraking EVERYWHERE.
