Linkin' Park - Crawlin ....... What kind of music is this?

Hoeboy

Banned
Grew up around R&B, Hip-Hop, and Rap. Recently got into alternative and trying to expand my taste in music. What category of music would this song be in? Not bad. Can ya recommend any other songs along the same line?

They're in the Alternative-Rap group. (Don't really have a proper name for it) Rage Against the Machine started it...you might look into Limp Bizkit too

i think if people expand their taste in music instead of being so close minded, it'd be for the best. i listen to r&b, rap, hiphop, pop, 80s, oldies, country (yes), alternative, and a whole buncha other stuff that i don't even know what category they belong to. about the only thing i haven't given a try yet is heavy head banging stuff 😉 it kinda benefits you so u won't go ballistic wen other people play the music they like.

they're some type of rock🙂

try "In the End" by linkin park again, its wicked.

also, try papa roach, rage against the machine, limp bizkit..

NetRadio's station The X always plays this. I despise this song, as well as the other Linkin Park song they play, of which the name escapes me now.

I basically turn the volume down until it passes. I can't stand it.

pyro, can you give me the specific titles off the top of your head? i'm on 56k. hard for me to "test" out the whole album of the artists you listed. 🙂

I actually bouught the CD. 😱

Well, for $6.99. 🙂

My take: They aren't bad. But no better than a lot of unsigned groups. I think they just got lucky and found the right manager and producer (they are WELL produced).

I think a new category for them should be formed: Alternative Pop-Rap. Like BSB meets Rage (ala Limp Bizkit). A legitimate band that got "record company backing" written all over them.

Did I just say the "sold-out"? :Q Maybe not . . . Well . . . all bands ultimately "sell-out" but some lay-down easier than others.

After listening to the CD a few times, I can see some integrity hidden among the catchy beats. But it won't be one of my favorite CDs or one that I will liusten to over and over.

The NEXT CD (and the one after) will be the true test for Linkin Park.

How are they live?

Linkin Park is way too bland, WTF Rap/Rock crossover started by Rage Against The Machine, uh no, try looking even further back to the Aerosmith/Run DMC collaboration, granted it was only one song not a genre. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers were using rap beats and rap style lyrics while most of the bands mentioned above were still in elementry school, they may not have the heavy crunch guitar sound that many have today but definitly started what evolved into the major explosion that is rap/rock crossover bands!

I am done ranting now, continue on and like whatever band you want to like, I could give a sh!t less.

😛

Red Hot Chili Peppers ala Blood Sugar Sex Magic didn't really have any rap stuff in it. They are a funk band by nature. Rage Against the Machine DID start the whole movement which overruns the rock world today. The RunDMC and Aerosmith collaboration, while a cool idea, didn't really change anything. Rage created an entire new sound. They don't use samples or anything, it's all them. There's no DJ and no tape that they play to. It's just them and their instruments.

All you said was very true. But funk/Hip-Hop are almost the same thing. I was not putting down RATM, I happen to like them alot and think they have a great original sound, I was just stating that they didnt start the rap/rock fusion. RATM is heavily rap influenced their guitarist, Tom Morrelo, list one of his biggest influences as Terminator X from public enemy. I still dont think they started the above mentioned genre. (keyword was think, you can think what you want)

ALL THE ABOVE WAS MY HUMBLE OPINION!

A good place to start is from the beginning... the beginning of that style.(The sonics, The raiders, The ramones(RIP), Sex Pistols, Pink Floyd, *Punk rock) Or, you could start in the middle.(Nirvana, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Jane's Addiction, Live, Tool, just to name a few generic mid-rock bands.) Or you could start in the now. (L.Park, L.Bizquick, Stained, Fuel, Godsmack, Kid Rock, any annoying one note pseudo-rythmic beat your head in cuz it feels good music)... don't get me wrong, some it is great.
