I have an account because my school alumni alumni group joined en masse.

I don't use it.

I voted "wtf another social networking site".

Give me a fscking break. Is it really so hard to "stay connected" with people that we need the services of MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, blahblahblabbiddyfuckingblah?

LinkedIn is hardly a social networking site. It's more of a professional networking site, geared at keeping contact with past and present co-workers as well as clients.

The advantage is that you can use the site to help you find a job (e.g. "Oh, so-and-so from two jobs ago works here. Maybe he can help me out.") or give you some background on a new client.

I just started using the site a few months ago, but I love it.

Has anyone let it run that activex control that goes through your outlook contacts?

I've been a non-using member for a while, but thought I'd give it a try. Not so keen on the aspect of having it know every one of my contacts...
