Lines under icons and Windows Explorer items?

Guys,

I've not seen this before, and I don't even know on what to search, so I'll ask it here.

My dad's computer (Win98SE) has lines under all desktop icon titles and under each item (folder or file) in the right hand pane of Windows Explorer. Why do these lines appear, and what can one do to get rid of them?

On the desktop icon titles, do you single-click them to open them? If so, that's why these lines are there. To change this so you double-click to open an item check the Folder Options in Windows.

Open Windows Explorere goto tools then folder options. Under General I bet that Click Items as Follows says Single Click to open an item and underline icon titles consistent with my browser. Change this to Double click to open an item and it should fix this.
