Lines and Screen Flickering in Games

This is most likely a refresh rate issue bit I'm not sure. I have a 17" Dell (Trintron) monitor connected to it. When I play a game like Battelfield 1942, Farcry or UT2k4 I notice it alot when I am shooting off a gun. Horizontal lines appears along with screen filtering. What's the best wayt to troubleshoot this and to understand how refresh rates affect smoothness of games?

What is your resolution and refresh rate set to on the desktop?

The one setting you might look for would be v-sync. It locks the game to the refresh rate.

I have the same board but have a asus 9800 256 ddr. chances are that it my need to be clocked down. I know you may not want to hear that but trust me. you wont know the diffrance. I mean more than likely your playing a game like halo that only requires a p3 or the eq, and a 32 meg graphics card. Thats a great board but if you use the cupid utility for it it can cause that also by setting the wronge FSB.... Just a few things to check out. Good luck.



ps if you ever want another board it will be hard to choose after using that mobo..look into the msi master2 940 socket.
