I just bought a new Viewsonic G71f+SB from Newegg and there are two very slight but noticeable grey lines running across the screen (horizontally).

Is this normal? Or should I plan on returning it?

Those are normal for aperture grille monitors. They're damper wires used to maintain the grille's positioning. After a few weeks you'll forget they exist.

So I shouldn't worry about them? That's just the way it is? No need to send it back to Viewsonic or Newegg?

Those lines are shadows cast by the damper wires that maintain the spacing between the wires of the aperture grille. They're normal. You'll probably tune them out in a week or two.

As everyone has said, they are normal. Probably stand out on lighter (white) backgrounds mostly. Dont worry, its the way it works.
