It's pretty good, but I like their single-origin bars a lot more. The Peru bar is 80% I think, and the Ecuador (my favorite) is 75%. I think I had a 95% from them as well, but that wasn't so good...

I've been hunting for that 95% bar.(I think it's 99%)?... it seems very elusive. I saw it once at a bookstore, but it was gone next time I came back, and I can't find it elsewhere(including online stores). Where did you buy it?

I think it is 99% actually. I have about 4 squares left, but I don't have the packaging anymore.

I bought it at the Lindt store in Atlanta. They have a ton of varieties. I have a few bars of 80% (I think) Peruvian as well. Hard to beat it for the price, imo.

Thanks for the info. No Lindt stores in austin :(. I'll have to keep an eye out if I travel. On that note, have you ever tried any of the other ultra-darks (like Michel Cluizel's Noir Infini, or Pralus' Le 100%)?Did you like those any better?

Meh. I think it's the other way around actually. An increase in popularity brings out those that have been interested in it for a long time. It's like what happened when the movie Sideways came out. Suddenly everyone (in the US at least) was talking about Pinot Noir, wine, etc. It kinda cheapens the efforts made by many before it was popularized because it's assumed you're only interested because of the movie.

Anyway, I digress :)

What is it about cacao beans that they can be mashed up in pure form and turned into a bar? It seems so weird to me that 100% dark chocolate can even exist. I would expect it to be in a jar like peanut butter from 100% peanuts.

Then again, I guess it shouldn't be surprising since I am eating a piece of scharffen berger 82% right now.

The majority in the USA/UK Commonwealth confuse "candy" with chocolate.

So-called white chocolate is not chocolate. Milk chocolate is barely chocolate.

Real chocolate has health benefits.

Obesity is not a sign of prosperity in USA/UK Commonwealth but quite the reverse. Only the po' and/or dumb are so.

WTF does this have to do with anything??? You could probably leave off Commonwealth too, I don't think anyone would be confused what UK meant.

It has to do with previous comments. I used Commonwealth in addition to UK to refer to other countries with significant populations (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, ...) which are culturally similar and are arguable becoming more congruous with the USA in their poor eating habits and acceptance of low grade food as substitute for the real thing.
