It is a repost Here But a good one at that.
There is a lot of info in the first post for anyone trying this. I have been playing with it off and on for the 6 weeks. It's a pretty decent Op. system.

So, I saw what you mean about going to the FTP site directly. Using Bulletproof FTP, you can use the login/password in the FTP string to see what's there. For instance, they seem to have a download of Lindows Live, and some other things. What all are the products that Lindows offers?

download started at 600+kb/sec... then it dropped and stayed at 250kb/sec ... wished it was faster

but no time to test it tonight.. the Laptop edition would of been nice too..

Sounds like a good deal; I'll have to give it a try.

Props for adding a little joke to the copyright fine print at the bottom of every page.
Lindows.com is not endorsed by or affiliated with Microsoft Corporation in any way - in fact, we don't even really like them because they are suing us.

LindowsOS is most definitely not a free product, although, after all these coupons, I'm starting to think differently...so, DON'T GIVE IT AWAY

anyway, this really is a great deal for those(like me)who have been paitently waiting for LindowsOS to put on another of their "deals".

LindowsOS is a free product - you *can* give it away. They try to make it look like a decent product by making you pay for the download, but they're always doing these free promotions.

The only non-free stuff is the downloadable Click'n'Run stuff, although strictly speaking that is free software, you just pay for the ease of installation (you don't have to compile it).

Personally I'd just go with Mandrake as a beginner's Linux, and use apt/rpm/yast or whatever package managment system you like to get software. LindowsOS is a bit too Windows-ised for non-newbies.

P.S. the 4.5 Developer edition works under VMWare4 if you want to try it without installing on a HD (although you can get a LiveCD now).

I downloaded it just to find out it does not support my Linksys PCI (Which I believe is pretty popular wireless card!):disgust:

Check to see if your hardware is compatible, if you do not want to waste your time.

For dialup people, I have a copy or two that I burned and don't need anymore. PM me and I'll mail you one (but pay me ~$1 to cover s&h).
