Limp Bizkit is actually kind of awesome

Somehow, I never could get into RATM. Their guitar riffs have a nice sort of groove but I find the vocal style employed in their songs pretty bland (however the lyrics may be).

I think Wes Borland's quite skilled on the guitar and has his own unique style much like Morello does. Neither of them are "shredding beasts" though.

Zach and Morello made beautiful angry music. I'm not going to psychoanalyze their lyrics or care about their political goals I just know they played with a fire, passion, and in Morello's case, skill, that you aren't going to find in Limp Bizkit.

I'm going to say that Bizkit on a whole rocked harder and dug deeper grooves than RATM. RATM just never seemed to all fit together that well.

And the icing on the cake are the hilarious Bizkit lyrics. Like, Break Stuff is awesome b/c his voice is in that whiny range, and it's got a chorus like "give me something to break" which is like haiku in its simplicity yet brilliance.

I used to listen to LB back in the day. Pretty dumb that some of you seem to be upset that there are people out there who like it. Different strokes. It was good driving music for the younger me. I tried listening to some of it for the first time in a long time a couple of years ago and it doesn't hold up well at all, but I don't really care if others still listen to them.

Really, Wes Borland has a unique style? Maybe outside of Limp Bizkit... Morello is another stratosphere in my opinion, though I'm by no means an expert. I would consider Morello a one of a kind legend while Borland is a weak imitator.

LB was a decent band for the time. Honestly, if you can't enjoy "Break Stuff" or "Nookie" something is wrong with you. Are they the greatest band ever? Of course not.

It's better than being into Linkin Park. Or even the Deftones, which I remember liking White Pony when I was a teen but can't stand to listen to now. Or At the Drive In. I guess Deftones and ATDI are better in a critical sense, but Limp Bizkit is just better in a...timeless sense.

Also a way different genre. I would assume they typically get labelled post-hardcore. That stuff peaked with the mentioned RoC and, IMO, Worship and Tribute (Glassjaw).

i saw linkin park and limp bizket back to back as part of at a stadium show in 2003 (went for metallica). linkin park had the least stage presence of anyone i've ever seen. completely boring and unengaging. which was 100% opposite of limp bizkit. fred durst may have been a no-talent doucheclown but the man knew how to get a crowd going.

Also I'm listening to ATDI now. I forgot how many excellent 'randomly lose your shit' moments the lead singer has. E.g.

The guy still looks sane in comparison to Daryl Palumbo, though.

I think Durst's talent is really underestimated and played down because of his asshole image and because of his silly (but entertaining) lyrics. He doesn't have the best voice in the world, but he makes good use of what he does have. Also, the Sanitarium cover in that particular show was awesome. His voice was pretty cool too.

It's pretty awesome that on Significant Other, he has songs titled "Break Stuff," "I'm Broke," and "No Sex"

Like, Fred Durst is charismatic enough to make an impression, but you don't have to take him seriously like you have to take someone like Common seriously. Makes the music a lot more fun.
