- not too heavy

- lyrics are hilarious.

- They know how to put on a show with costumes and stuff

Rap/rock-"new metal" bands all suck, and Limp Bizkit suck most of all. I pray that one day I have the chance to knee Fred Durst in the nuts.

I don't know but obviously when it comes to music a lot of it, be it people's hate or love, is just subjective opinion. I remember quite enjoying LB in my teens. Yes, their lyrics might not be very intellectual (thought they can be pretty funny and entertaining) but they make aggressive, catchy tunes.

I don't correlate Fred Durst's public image or what he is as a person with the music that LB comes up with. I treat them as two different things.

Fred Durst isn't even close to being among the best singers out there but he uses what he has to make melodious tunes. Wes Borland may not be the best guitarist out there in terms of technical prowess on the guitar but he comes up with catchy, creative riffs. Sam Rivers is a neat bassist too. Dunno about John Otto, because I don't know much about drumming. But people say he's decent.

Yes, there are better bands out there in my subjective opinion. But are LB bad and completely talentless? Again, not in my subjective opinion.

Catchy? It's talentless garbage is what Limp Bizkit is.

Not too heavy - is that supposed to be a compliment?

Lyrics are hilarious - yep. Fred Durst is such a stupid hick it is funny.

They know how to put on a show with costumes. Lmao. If your in a band that's so bad you have to use costumes as a gimmick, well, that's just sad.

Forgive me for not having the sheer force of will needed to look this up:

Are these dudes saying that limp bizkit is actually still a band? They didn't all die? Like ten years ago? As I had hoped?

Also, 'nu metal' is not the same as shitty rap with guitars. Deftones were called nu metal, and grouping them with limp bizkit is fuckin' terrible. I'm sure I liked some other bands that got the unfortunate 'nu metal' moniker, too.

Hell, even korn should be offended to be thrown into the same genre as limp bizkit. And korn sucks.

didn't they break up? I had thought they finally faded away into obscurity

I like this version of Sanitarium by Limp Bizkit. Obviously it's not like Metallica's original. They took it and added their own groove to it and I like it.

I think when the OP says they're not too heavy he means that they're not like those bands which have cookie monster vocals and seemingly random guitar riffs. I like bands like Lamb of God but some bands are just way too out there for me.

I would venture a guess that you just haven't heard much of the stuff. It's fine if it's not your cup of tea, but good melodic death metal (and similar) is not just randomness.

I'll go ahead and say 'listen to Opeth' before anyone else does. I still think Hessian Peel is a great sample of how pretty their music often is. But punctuated with brutality. It's a ying/yang thing. Only everywhere in the middle, also.

No

Actually the only rap rock that should exist is Rage Against the Machine. Everything else is trash.

I'm actually fairly into music and the range of music I listen to is quite wide. I listen to everything from pop to metal and everything in between. I just like good songs. Though I have preferences, I'm not too much into bashing other genres. I've heard quite a bit of Opeth (I love "The Grand Conjuration", "Atonement", "The Leper Affinity" etc.) and I think they're really good. I've heard quite a bit of melodic death metal too.

Bands like Opeth are something else and not what I was referring to. There are bands out there which are pretty random, at least seemingly. They get boring after a song or two.

Again, it's all just subjective opinion.

Somewhere the death metal gods are crying out in anguish. Opeth has been mentioned in relation to limp bizkit...

I just died a little inside, but hopefully those who do not know of opeth and think limp bizkit is good will listen to opeth and figure out what great music is.
