What would happen if stock trade was limited to one day once a week or once a month?

Then the modern day trading that we know of would grind to a halt.

Do any company benefit from day trading? Isn't day trading the equivalent of betting on sports? So it's only the day traders getting rich gambling away?

automated trades generated via trade algorithms make up a huge percentage of trades. They trade fast enough to be able to take advantage of millisecond price fluctuations. Yes, companies benefit a lot from this. (can also lose a lot if the algo goes wrong)

Investment companies, but production companies does not benefit. Wouldn't long term investment be better than short term speculations?

Back to the 1950s

Spreads wide enough to drive a truck through.

Bid ask would be

Bid 50 ASK 80

and 200 dollar commissions + monthly maintenance fees to hold your position. + Penalties for odd lots.

Brokers will not answer the phone or want your business unless you have a minimum investment amount.

Why not go back to old school for smaller listings you had to go to the pinksheets and look at stale quotes and then call like 20 different people to come to some price/size agreement. :)
