Limiting # of subscriptions?

Apparently I checked off the option to auto subscribe to threads and for the first time ever i decided to check how many I had. It was 3.6k subscriptions.

Maybe you guys can limit the # everyone can have to boost performance or is there little/no impact?
 
The impact is minimal, so it's not something we are worried about.🙂
