I'd like to be able to change how much bandwidth(internet) some of the computers on my home network uses. How would I go about that? And if possible can I do it from one machine?
And is it possible to get to the admin tools on one machine from another?
All machines are runing Windows XP.

Thanks,

whats the layout of the network...?

oh, and the standard "what problem are you trying to solve?" question applies...we might know something better!

The layout is 3, soon to be 4, PC's conected to a router. There is no problems, I just want to be able to change/limit bandwidth to certain machines at times.

Yes, it can be done, however it has to be done at the router level (or on each individual PC, which isn't the central control you're looking for). Most broadband routers do not have this function, so you will either have to invest in a commercial grade router or setup a linux router on a spare PC.

Thanks for the input :)
The Bandwidth Controller works from a server system, I'm trying to controll them from one of the PC's behind the router.
That's why I was also wondering if there is a way to do it in WinXP itself and if I could make the changes from one system to another one.

I am currently exploring ways to insert a linux box to brigde a residential building with over 500 clients on three subnets to the greater wan, probably after the conversion from RJ45 to fiber... the purpose of this being to provide this same type of regulation, except with an emphasis on p2p and meaningless packet intradiction.

only problem... I'm a total linux noob starting from scratch... I'm sure its possible tho
