All,
Have there been any plans by chipset makers to release a Northbridge compatible with Socket 478/479 (FSB533/400) that uses PCIe?
Currently the only chipset I've seen is the Intel 915GM/PM series. All others either don't support the socket or they don't support the bus speeds.
The 915PM isn't a horrible chip, but it does limit DDR memory to single channel @ 333. Higher latency DDR2 memory can be used in dual channel modes @ 533/400.
Given the increased interest in Pentium-M systems, I am suprised nobody else (VIA/SIS) has left support for older processors in their newer chipsets for this growing niche market.
